12-year-old boy shot in chest, hand

On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 3:45 pm, the a 12-year-old boy was sitting inside of a vehicle parked on the 6100 block of Spruce Street when two males approached him and fired a handgun five times striking the boy in the chest and hand. The boy was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and later transferred to Children's Hospital and was listed in serious condition.

The victim is currently still listed in serious condition.

Southwest Detectives conducted a thorough investigation and developed information that led to identifying Shaheem Willis as the male who is responsible for the shooting.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Willis, 17, and he was arrested today without incident.
