Casino mogul Steve Wynn headed for divorce

LAS VEGAS (AP) - March 11, 2009

Clark County District Court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer told The Associated Press on Tuesday that divorce papers were filed March 5 and sealed by a judge the same day. The sealing means no other details of the case are public.

Calls and an e-mail to a spokeswoman for Wynn Resorts Ltd. were not immediately returned.

/*Steve Wynn*/ is chief executive of the Las Vegas-based casino company. Elaine Wynn is a director on the company's board.

The Wynns have been dogged since January by tabloid reports that Steve Wynn had fallen for another woman.

It won't be the first time something has cost the casino mogul a load of money. Casino mogul Steve Wynn lost $139 million in November 2006, but got to keep one of his favorite paintings when he poked a hole in a Picasso. It cost Wynn $85,000 to repair the damage to the art work, but it couldn't fix his pride.

"Forget the money," he told The Associated Press. "You hate like hell to damage a painting like 'Le Reve."'

Wynn was showing /*Picasso*/'s 1932 work to several high-profile guests in his Las Vegas office when he accidentally poked a hole in the canvas with his elbow.
