Evesham Township teacher killed in crash

EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. - April 8, 2009 The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning on route 70 and Troth Road in Evesham Township.

Officials say 27-year-old Amy Voorhees of Evesham, a language arts teacher and softball coach, was on her way to her job at the Demasi Middle School when her vehicle was hit by a pick-up truck, traveling eastbound on route 70.

Vorhees was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far, no charges have been filed.

The Burlington County Prosecutors Office is investigating.

Voorhees had taught at the school for three years.

The school lowered their flags at half staff in her memory. There will be grief counselors at the school tomorrow.
