State health officials are reporting the first death associated with swine flu in Utah. David Sundwall, executive director of the Utah Department of Health, says a 22-year-old man with swine flu died Wednesday morning at a Salt Lake City hospital. He says the man had chronic medical conditions.

Not including the Utah death, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports eight swine deaths in the United States.

The CDC says 47 states and District of Columbia have a combined 5,710 confirmed and probable cases.
