Harry Kalas' home goes up for sale

MEDIA, PA. - July 14, 2009

After the game was over, after the last call was made, it was in Media, Delaware County where Harry Kalas was really home safe. Three months after the legendary Harry the K passed away, his widow is putting their house on the market.

"It's a real regular house, for a real regular, well-loved guy," said realtor Christine Clark of Long and Foster Real Estate.

Clark gave Action News the grand tour, showing us the living room for entertaining, the kitchen decorated Phillies red, and of course Harry's office, where the magic happened.

"This is his desk, where he'd sit before games and do all his statistics and planning," said Clark.

But walking through the house, it is soon clear that work was not the primary activity. Downstairs there is a second kitchen complete with retro Coca-Cola memorabilia - again in the family's favorite color, Phillies red.

And we are told Harry called his favorite part of the house Kalas' Korner. He'd stand behind the custom bar to entertain all his friends. The Phillies baseball theme reigns supreme, with baseball bats to hold the mugs and sports-themed stained glass windows. Kalas' corner was Harry's own creation.

"He custom designed this bar, put in all of the cabinets with the sports theme," said Clark.

The asking price for the Kalas home is $625,000 dollars. It is one more place where the memory of Harry the K lives on in the Delaware Valley.
