The incident happened on Kelly Drive, north of the intersection at Fairmount Avenue.
The victim was struck by what was described as a black or dark colored Jeep Wrangler style vehicle. The striking vehicle pulled to the side of the road, but fled the scene as medics and police arrived on location.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Division actively investigated this incident and was able to obtain an arrest warrant on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 for 28-year-old Paul DiDonato of Philadelphia.
On Thursday, January 7, 2010, DiDonto turned himself in with his attorney at Central Detective Division. He is charged with Homicide by Vehicle, Accident Involving Death, and Involuntary Manslaughter.
