MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - March 19, 2010

James P. Armstrong, 47, of East Linwood Avenue, Maple Shade, N.J., was charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in state prison.

Armstrong downloaded to his personal computer's hard drive numerous pornographic images and videos from the internet that featured children.

Armstrong was arrested yesterday morning after the execution of a search warrant at his home by detectives from the Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

He was released after posting $2,500 bail. The case will now be presented to a Burlington County Grand Jury for possible indictment.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, which is a member of the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

"We will continue to patrol cyberspace in an ongoing effort to prosecute those who collect or distribute sexually explicit images of children," Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi said. "We have the tools to locate the offenders, and this pursuit will be relentless."
