Police: No abduction, bachelor party prank

PENN'S LANDING - May 26, 2010

It was first thought to be a crime so bold that it left police scratching their heads and combing two different counties for four suspected kidnappers.

It, however, turned out to be a major misunderstanding. The four thought-to-be criminals are four groomsmen who grabbed their soon-to-be married friend for a bachelor party weekend.

It all began around 3:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the Chart House at 555 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard.

A short time later, police interviewed witnesses who say they saw four men jump out of an early 90's Dodge conversion van and pull someone from the passenger side of a Honda parked nearby.

The men, two of them shirtless, all with pantyhose on their heads, threw the supposed victim into the van and sped off.

The police tracked those men and the van to a home in Bucks County, but the van nor the victim were anywhere to be seen.

That's because they all were in Atlantic City for the party.

The whole scene was a prank carried out by the wedding party.

Police say they will discuss the possibility of any charges on Thursday.
