Police: Grenade found in Phila. school "harmless"

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - June 8, 2010

School District of Philadelphia spokesman Fernando Gallard says Taggart Elementary School was cleared of students around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Philadelphia police say a bomb squad responded to the South Philadelphia school and quickly determined the grenade was not explosive.

Gallard says officials are still investigating how the dummy grenade got into the classroom.

Students will return to the school and finish the day as scheduled.
