Pilot talks coming down to wire at Spirit Airlines

WASHINGTON - June 11, 2010

Pilots say they're ready to walk out if they don't get a new contract that gives them the same pay as pilots at competitors like JetBlue and Air Tran. One pilot says they're not looking to lead the industry because they don't want to put Spirit at an economic disadvantage.

The airline's management has talked of operating through any strike, but is not selling tickets for any flights on Saturday or Sunday.

Most of Spirit's flights originate in the Eastern U.S., including Atlantic City International Airport and connect to the Caribbean. It runs roughly 150 per day.
