Police were called to the hospital at 1200 Old York Road just after 6:00 p.m. reportedly looking for a missing man.
Mary Thompson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Abington Memorial Hospital, told Action News police found the missing man's car on the hospital's campus which resulted in the search and lockdown of the hospital.
Officials are not commenting on the identity of the person.
Police and hospital officials prevented nonemployees from entering or exiting the hospital during the search.
"In the interest of security for our patients and visitors, we've limited visitors to the buildings during this time until they resolve this," Thompson said.
The man was not found and the lockdown was lifted after a few hours.
