Now, there is an effort in Philadelphia to *prevent hearing loss.
Students at Stephen Decauter Elementary School in Northeast Philadelphia took a pledge to listen to music at a safe volume.
It's part of a campaign called "Buds in the Schools Week."
Performers and hearing experts are visiting six schools hoping to spread their message and protect kids' hearing.
The campaign is sponsored by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
