2 rescued from Malvern fire; firefighter injured

MALVERN, Pa. - December 9, 2010

The fast-moving house fire broke out around 1:00 a.m. along the 300 block of E. King Street.

The fire quickly went to three alarms. The intense flames caused part of the building to collapse.

One person had to be rescued from a roof area after they jumped from a window. A second person was rescued by a responding Malvern police officer and transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

A firefighter was injured during the partial collapse in the rear of the building. He was hospitalized with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Fire building collapsed forcing firefighters to evacuate the building.

The fire marshal said that the fire is not considered suspicious, but the investigation into how it started continues.
