Trenton police director quits

TRENTON, N.J. - January 13, 2011

Calling Mack a "low-life," Ernie Williams says the mayor didn't have the decency to tell him he was being replaced. Williams found out about the change from an online news report in The Trentonian.

He cleaned out his desk Wednesday afternoon, saying Mack reneged on a promise to keep him on for a year. Williams, 75, started work last July.

Mack declined comment to The Times of Trenton, calling it a personnel matter that shouldn't be discussed publicly.

He has not publicly identified his choice to replace Williams.
