Pa. constable admits making false report, resigns

MEDIA, Pa. - March 8, 2011

The Delaware County Daily Times reports John Denny resigned as a constable Monday, the same day he resolved several cases by pleading guilty to charges including making false reports and threatening officers. He was sentenced to probation.

Denny had claimed he was assault by a Chester police sergeant during a traffic stop in January 2010. But Delaware County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Lawrie says Denny recorded many of his daily activities, including the stop, and the tape shows nothing but good police work.

Denny's attorney says his client opted to plead guilty so he could move on with his life.
