William J. Parisio was charged on Monday, a day after the body of Pamela Schmidt, a 22-year-old Warren Township woman, was found in his basement.
Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow says police responded to a call at noon on Sunday and found the woman dead of "traumatic injuries." No further details were provided.
Schmidt was set to graduate from Rutgers this spring. Parisio was being held in the Union County jail on Monday in lieu of $400,000 bail.
