Grandmother charged after boy, 3, found wandering

BENSALEM - April 19, 2011

Bensalem Police Special Victims Unit charged 48-year-old Lisa McLawhorn on Monday.

At 12:45 p.m., Bensalem Police responded to a witness who observed a toddler walking along Brown Avenue.

For the next 40 minutes, Bensalem police attempted to locate the parent(s) of the child.

After checking several apartments at nearby Regency Apartments, they located the grandmother of the toddler.

Police say the grandmother, McLawhorn, was unaware that the toddler went missing.

The toddler was not injured.

The child's mother arrived home while police were on scene.

During the investigation, it was found that McLawhorn was highly intoxicated and had a blood alcohol level of a .135.

McLawhorn was charged for child endangerment and related charges.

She is being held on $50,000 bail.
