Replenishment work delayed at Delaware beach

SOUTH BETHANY, Del. (AP) - May 6, 2011

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has delayed the work until October. It was previously scheduled to take place in June and July. Environmental officials say the contractor, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, will work on Dewey and Rehoboth beaches after the project wraps in South Bethany in November

The restoration project is being done with $22.7 million in federal funds in response to damaging fall 2009 storms.

Replenishment work in Fenwick is still scheduled to begin in June. Realtor John Kleinstuber says he has received a number of cancellations as a result of the project.
