Motel disturbance ends in gunfire

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - May 21, 2011

Upper Merion Township police responded to a disturbance in a room at the motel around 1:45am.

Officers tried to force their way in after occupants refused to open the door and that's when 4 men fled through a window.

The officers gave pursuit, and one of the men entered a car and rammed the car into a police vehicle, the side of the building and then aimed the car at an officer exiting the building.

The officer jumped out of the path of the car and opened fire. The suspect's car then crashed, and he tried to flee on foot but the officer gave chase and tasered him.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital where he is in the intensive care unit.

The incident is under investigation and charges are pending.

No word on what happened to the other 3 men.
