3 arrested in theft of military grave markers

CINNAMINSON, N.J. - June 6, 2011

Investigators say 19-year-old Arielli Levin, 27-year-old Jamie Babcock and 25-year-old Tosha Fugett stole the markers at Lakeview Cemetery, then tried to sell them to a Philadelphia scrap yard.

The scrap yard owner purchased the markers and then promptly contacted Lakeview officials, who then called Cinnaminson police.

Officers looked over surveillance video of the transactions and also got a look at the license plate of the vehicle driven by the three women.

Cinnaminson investigators have been in contact with police departments from Cherry Hill, Pennsauken, Bellmawr, Edgewater Park and Riverdale, all of whom have been experiencing similar thefts in the recent months.

A total of 380 grave markers have been recovered. Some of the military markers date back to the Civil War and Spanish American War.

All three women have been charged with theft and fencing stolen property. Each suspect is being held on $20,000 bail.
