Fire crews responded to a fire at the Econolodge in the 100 block of McIntosh Plaza just off of Route 273 in Newark, Delaware around 10:30pm.
Crews battled to contain the fire and to determine if all floors have been evacuated.
.One person was transported for smoke inhalation and two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor burns.
The fire destroyed one room and smoke and water damaged 8 other rooms. Hotel guests were moved to other rooms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
