It happened on the 1700 block of West Juniata Street in Nicetown at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
26-year-old Saleem Garland of the 1900 block of Brunner Street was sitting in his red Chevy Impala when someone came up to the car and shot through the front windshield and rear window, striking Garland.
When police arrived to the scene he was laying across the front seats dead.
A suspect was last seen running towards the 4100 block of Wayne Avenue.
Detectives are looking for his killer, and the reasons why he was shot.
