Teen who survived Haiti quake drowns in Pa.

PENN TWP., Pa. - July 14, 2011

Police say the teen, identified as Rood Sherac Nerjuste of Sinking Spring, Pa., jumped off Church Road cliff, about 120 yards north of Old Church Road, into Blue Marsh Lake in Penn Township.

Rescuers were called to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and searched for more than two hours. Boats, divers and a helicopter were used in the effort.

Police say they found Nerjuste's body in about 18 feet of water, near where he jumped in.

State troopers said the death had been ruled an accidental drowning.

Nerjuste, from Haiti, was staying with his aunt in Sinking Spring. Nerjuste had been living with her since he left Haiti after the earthquake.
