Mrs. Fixit: Terra Cotta

July 24, 2011

A terra cotta pot in the bathroom will hold toothbrushes or brushes and combs.

The base to that same pot will serve as a soap dish or to catch jewelry at the end of the day.

Speaking of soap dishes, put one by the sink in the kitchen to catch sponges, steel wool or your rings before you do the dishes.

Place a ball of kitchen twine on a the pot base and turn the pot upside down over it. Run the twine up through the drainage hole and you've got a handy string dispenser.

A pot by the phone is the perfect spot to hold pencils so they're always right where you need them.

One of my all-time favorite terra cotta tips - running the edge of a dull knife over the bottom a pot at an angle sharpens your knife in a few quick swipes.

Don't like the look of terra cotta? You can write on them, stamp on them, paint them or even turn them into a chalk board and personalize the pots! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
