HUNTING PARK - JUly 22, 2011

They were called to a burning home about 12:30 a.m., in the 1400 block of West Cayuga Street.

When firefighters arrived they found heavy flames spitting out of the first floor of the house.

The fire quickly moved to the second floor.

Everyone inside the home managed to get out safely.

During the half hour it took to gain control of the blaze, however, several firefighters were almost overcome by the oppressive conditions.

Three medics were called in to supply water and wet towels, and to examine the firefighters for signs of heat exhaustion.

All of the distressed firefighters were treated at the scene.
