Dozens of tires slashed in NE Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - August 11, 2011

Only Action News was there as police took reports from the owners of 16 vehicles, some with multiple tires slashed.

The Desprez family has two cars hit by the vandals - two tires were slashed on each vehicle.

"For somebody to do this, they did a whole lot of work," said Garfield Desprez.

The damage spread from the 6200 block of Frontenac Street, the 1200 block of Robbins Street, the 1200 block of Hale Street and the alley between Hale and McKinley streets.

Police spent hours taking stock of the damage.

"I found by my tires slashed," said victim Dionne Allen. "I don't have any money to fix that. What happens now?"

Authorities believe this happened overnight, sometime between the hours of midnight and 7:30 am.

"It's upsetting," said John German. "I just hope we can catch whoever is doing this."
