Northeast Extension NB reopens after fatal crash

LOWER SALFORD TWP., Pa. - September 2, 2011

Police say that around 2:45 on Friday morning a gas tanker and two other vehicles collided in the Northbound lanes of the highway in Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County.

Police say one of the vehicles was stopped on the side of the road. The driver of another car stopped to help and that's when the truck plowed into both of them.

One person was thrown from a car and another person was trapped in a vehicle.

Medical helicopters flew both victims to local hospitals. One was later pronounced dead.

The names of those involved have not been released.

As terrible as the crash is, it could have been worse, if the tanker had leaked gas. Fortunately, that did not happen.

The northbound lanes were reopened from Lansdale to Quakertown around 11:15 a.m.
