Curious George finds a new home

UPPER PROVIDENCE, Pa. - December 3, 2011

The Delaware County SPCA announced on Saturday, a couple has signed the adoption contract today, but will take the now healthy pit-bull home on December 13th.

Curious George was given the name after he was found staggering along the 1600 block of Naamen's Creek Road near Boothwyn back in October, starved and emaciated.

A passing resident found the dog and dropped it off to the SPCA for care.

Officials with the SPCA reported that the initial condition of the dog was the "worst act of cruelty and deprivation we've seen."

Curious George should have been about 60-70 pounds, but instead weighed only 35 pounds.

Last week, 28-year-old Lamont Alexander admitted to abandoning the dog in the early morning hours of October 31st.

"I thought the best thing to do would be to let him go, so I had someone drive me and let the dog go in Lower Chichester," said Alexander in a statement.

The Delaware County SPCA says Curious George will be taken to the Perfect Pooch: The Pack Leaders for 10 days of training.

After that, his new family will take him home.
