2 escape injury when small plane crashes in NJ

LINCOLN PARK, N.J. (AP) - April 15, 2012

Witnesses say the 2005 Tiger AG5B single engine aircraft bounced off the runway as it came down at Lincoln Park Airport around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

It then veered left off the runway and ended up in a tree, where the fuselage broke in two. Most of the plane eventually became entangled in the tree's branches about 10 feet above the ground.

Authorities say the pilot, 58-year-old Russell Filbey of Edinburg, N.Y., and his passenger, whose name was not released, were the only two people aboard the plane.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
