NJ parents accused of hiding daughter from law

HOPATCONG, N.J. (AP) - September 7, 2012

Hopatcong police say 19-year-old Cheryl Semiz disappeared after she had agreed to go with her father to the Sussex County Sheriff's Department to face an outstanding arrest warrant.

Police Lt. Thomas Kmetz tells The Daily Record of Parsippany police received a tip that Thomas Semiz had written on Facebook that his daughter was home.

Kmetz says the father denied that and refused to allow police to search the home.

Kmetz says officers saw the father and daughter emerge from the house a half hour later.

The daughter is charged with hindering her own apprehension, obstruction and resisting arrest. Her parents are charged with hindering apprehension, obstruction and resisting arrest.
