The shooting happened shortly before midnight Sunday near the intersection of North 39th and Mt. Vernon streets.
Upon arrival, officers located the 25-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper neck and back lying in the grass to a vacant lot.
The officers placed the male in their vehicle and transported him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
There is no description of the shooter at this time.
