Drug dealers targeted in Collingdale sweep

COLLINGDALE, Pa. - December 5, 2013

The Delaware County drug task force said the sweep was the result of a three-month long investigation into drug sales in the borough.

Police made a number of arrests during the sweep, which was dubbed 'Operation My Block.'

However, some of the suspects remain at large.

Police say they seized several handguns along with quantities of cocaine, marijuana and heroin packaging.

They also seized $2,000 in cash, cell phones, more than 1,000 counterfeit prescriptions and pills.

District Attorney Jack Whelan said rival drug dealers were terrorizing a neighborhood.

"These neighborhoods will certainly be much safer and the residents that had to put up with the nonsense, the drug dealing, the violence that was occurring, can sleep better tonight knowing these individuals are behind bars and will be behind bars for the foreseeable future," Whelan said.

Officials said police concentrated heavily on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue after receiving a number of complaints about drug sales and shots being fired.
