Smiles and Wrinkles was started by a Yardley man who thought life for his mom and others her age should be about much more than bingo, grandkids and doctor's appointments.

"I always wanted to do something for my mother.. wanted her to get out more," said Lou Lavin of Yardley, Pennsylvania.

He started "Smiles & Wrinkles," a social group for the 50 and older crowd.

Joanne Goldberg of Egg Harbor Twp., New Jersey said, " We go to a lot of nice restaurants, also to the art museums, special events like this and anything that people are interested in doing. Movies, theater, going to New York City. "

Lavin's mother, Myrna said, " It helps to meet new people and friends."

"Being single ... you cannot often find somebody to do different events with," said Phyllis Wilke of Pitman, New Jersey. .

Goldberg added, "...and this gets me, gives me the opportunity to do the things I love with a group of people who enjoy the same things."

Linda Freedman of Philadelphia said, " I just love to go out and do things and enjoy my life."

There are lots of social groups geared towards older adults.
