Officials say a driver traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and crashed during a police chase in the city's Tioga-Nicetown section early Saturday morning.

Officers observed a vehicle driving reckless on the Schuylkill Expressway around 2:25 a.m.

They followed a GMC Suburban onto the Roosevelt Boulevard north and attempted to stop the driver.

That's when the vehicle suddenly veered off the Wayne Avenue exit and lost control.

The vehicle overturned several times before coming to a stop at the intersection of West Roberts Avenue.

Police say 23-year-old Braheem Marque Herbert of Philadelphia and 20-year-old Tyrese Shavon McDaniels of Norristown, Pa. were ejected from the vehicle.

A gun and drugs were recovered at the scene, officials say.

Police say both men were arrested and face a long list of charges.
