'I killed my mother': Man allegedly confesses to killing mother in Bucks Co. after arrested in DC
Authorities say 82-year-old Dolores Ingram was found dead Sunday inside a condo on Beacon Hill Drive.
NORTHAMPTON TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A man allegedly confessed to killing his mother in Bucks County after being arrested hours later for assaulting an officer in Washington D.C.
Authorities say 82-year-old Dolores Ingram was found dead Sunday inside a condo on Beacon Hill Drive in the Holland section of Northampton Township.
The victim's son, 49-year-old William Ingram, was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. on the same day as the homicide.
Right now, he's accused of assaulting a police officer and damaging a police vehicle with a skateboard before his arrest.
According to court documents, after he was taken into custody in D.C., he allegedly told investigators that someone should check on his mother back in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
When asked why, the suspect reportedly said, "I killed my mother."
After seeing what appeared to be blood on a window of the first-floor condominium, Northampton police entered the home on Beacon Hill Drive to find Dolores Ingram, who appeared to have suffered severe head trauma and buried beneath the pile of household items, including furniture and clothing.
According to police, a witness reported hearing the sound of loud banging around 1 a.m. Sunday.
The witness' home surveillance video reportedly showed William Ingram running out of the condo shirtless around 1:42 a.m. He is seen walking back inside the residence before leaving at 10:03 a.m.
Authorities say the suspect left his vehicle and fled the scene in his mother's white 2015 Honda Civic. License plate readers tracked the vehicle twice traveling away from the condo: at 10:13 a.m. at the 413 Bypass and Route 332 East in Newtown Township, and at 10:21 a.m. on Route 332 and Stony Hill Road in Lower Makefield Township.
William Ingram remains in custody in Washington D.C.
On Monday, he was charged with stealing his mother's vehicle. Additional charges against him have not yet been filed.
Concerned residents say things like this do not happen often in the area.
"This is a quiet quiet area, nothing like this has ever happened around here. It's definitely unusual," said Brandon Garrett, from Levittown.
"It's rare, we don't see any disturbance around this area," added Joanna Rocha from Southampton.
Neighbors told Action News that an elderly woman lived at the apartment with her son.
"I've seen the older woman who lives there, she's usually out watering her flowers. You can see the flower pots out there now that she waters with," said Garrett.
According to residents, Dolores Ingram was well-known in the community and has lived there for years.
She also recently celebrated her 82nd birthday, neighbors told Action News.
An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.
