Richard Petty's car immortalized at Dover

DOVER, Del. (WPVI) -- A new monument has been added at Dover's Monster Mile that honors one of the most decorated drivers in NASCAR history.

The blue 43 Smithfield Ford was unveiled at Dover International Speedway Wednesday afternoon.

The 7 time NASCAR champ himself, Richard Petty was on hand for the event, and so was his driver, Aric Almirola.

The 46 foot fiberglass statue will stand at Victory Plaza.

The event also marked the kick-off of national autism awareness month.

The AAA 400 Drive for Autism NASCAR Spring Cup Series race is on Sunday, May 15th.
