Pedestrian struck and killed by Amtrak train in Newport, Del.

NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Newport, Delaware.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:07 a.m. Sunday on the tracks between Water and East Ayre streets.

The pedestrian was removed from the scene by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science.

Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate.
