SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - March 27, 2008 Councilman William Pressley says the number of cutoffs was
higher than it has been in recent months but not unprecedented.
Councilman Gene Mullen believes the number went up because some
people should have been cut off months ago. He says the town is not
allowed to shut off power during cold weather.
Pressley says people with past due accounts were warned not to
wait until the last minute to pay, and he says they were advised to
talk to town officials to try to work out a payment arrangement.
