What is snow?

title| David Murphy| Snow is frozen precipitation made of ice crystals. Ice crystals come in different shapes, including "needles" and "hollow columns", but most are six-sided and symmetrical. This is because of how the molecules inside the ice line-up and connect to each other. However, as individual crystals clump together or become damaged, their shape can change. The patterns formed by ice crystals are unlimited.
