Philly street buckles after main break

A broken water line is sending thousands of gallons pouring out onto the street.

The 16-inch water main ruptured around 6:30 a.m. on Stenton Avenue near Mermaid Lane. The force of the water buckled the street in several locations this morning.

So far there are no reports of property damage.

Police are on scene and water company workers should start work repairing the break soon. You can expect the 7800 block of Stenton Avenue between Mermaid and Willow Grove to be closed for Sunday.
