A former postmaster in Absecon has been sentenced to five months in federal prison and five months of home confinement after pleading guilty to falsifying stamp vending machine records.

At his sentencing Tuesday in Camden, 57-year-old Charles Lynch also was ordered to pay $115,000 in restitution to the U.S. Postal Service.

He pleaded guilty to a one-count information in July 2007.

Lynch formerly resided in Galloway Township and moved to Ohio last year.

He will remain free on $50,000 bond pending his surrender to federal prison officials on a date to be determined.
