The Philadelphia 76ers say they have placed their mascot Hip-Hop on the injured reserve list after he suffered an injury to his knee while attempting one of his sky-walking dunks for a group of children. The team reported the injury on their website Wednesday, saying Hip-Hop is beginning an extensive rehabilitation program.

"We expect Hip-Hop to make a full recovery," said Senior Vice President of Business Operations Lara Price. "We know how badly he wants to return and we know how much his fans are looking forward to him getting back on the court to perform the dunks that made him famous."

The Sixers say the mascot has only missed one game in the ten years since joining the team.

Hip-Hop is expected to return in time for the start of the regular season. The Sixers have created a dedicated space on their website where fans can monitor his progress.
