Bathrooms, court rooms and prisoner cells were closed after raw sewage backed up at the new courthouse on East 161st Street.
Department of Citywide Administrative Services spokesman Mark Daly says the agency doesn't expect to close the building entirely. Half the plumbing lines at the $421 million courthouse were shut down.
The seeping sewage was discovered Wednesday after people reported a stench in the building. It was tracked to a pipe buried 12 feet underground.
