Cancer center honors Robin Roberts

BUFFALO ABC's "Good Morning America" co-anchor accepted the 2008 Roswell Park Cancer Institute's Gilda Radner Courage Award on Saturday in Buffalo. The award is named for the late comedian and recognizes cancer patients whose public battles offer hope and raise awareness of the disease.

Roberts found out she had breast cancer in 2007.

She credited film critic Joel Siegel with making her mindful of the disease, which helped her detect her cancer early. Her former colleague died of colon cancer in 2007.

She says: "Because of his passion, I did it. I found out I had cancer and was able to handle it."
