Teacher hurt trying to break up fight

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) - October 30, 2008

School officials say Eileen Holcomb, who teaches special education, was trying to protect a freshman girl from six other students who were attacking her.

Officials say the teacher was knocked to the ground and injured as the attackers kept trying to get at the girl. The six are charged with crimes including aggravated assault.

The girl who was attacked suffered a bruised eye and was treated by the school nurse.

School administrators made an announcement over the loudspeaker and issued a memo instructing students and faculty not to talk about the incident with the media.
