Victims fight back against gunman

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - November 9, 2008

Police said it happened on the playground of the Sharswood Elementary School in the 2400 block of South 2nd Street around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Officers said three men were walking through the playground when 19-year-old James Ransome approached them with a handgun. A struggle broke out and one victim was shot in the stomach. Then the other two victims overpowered the alleged robber and beat him up.

The victim, 19-years-old as well, who was shot and the suspect are both in the hospital for their injuries.

Ransome is facing numerous charges including violation of fire arms, attempted murder, robbery and other related charges.
