CMA Awards Red Carpet Special WebCast

November 12, 2008 Following the Red Carpet Special, the Country Music Association and the ABC Television Network will air "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards" live, beginning at 8pm from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The industry's elite and biggest stars will gather on "Country Music's Biggest Night Night™" to recognize and celebrate the best and brightest performers, songwriters, record producers and music video directors.

Previously announced performers include co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, along with Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Rodney Atkins, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and The Wailers, the Eagles, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, James Otto, Kellie Pickler, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.

Previously announced presenters include Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Vince Gill, Julianne Hough, Heidi Newfield, Jake Owen, John Rich, Swift, Josh Turner, Jimmy Wayne, Lee Ann Womack and Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon.

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958. A total of 12 CMA Awards in the following categories are presented-Entertainer of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, Musician of the Year, Music Video of the Year and the New Artist Award (formerly known as the Horizon Award).
