Home invasion and sexual assault

FOX CHASE - November 20, 2008 Police responded to a report of a home invasion and sexual assault that happened around 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning in a home in the 7100 block of Oxford Avenue in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia.

The victim told police her attacker, who appeared to be in his 50's, posed as a maintenance man sent there by the management company to do repairs. Police say she let him in and he proceeded to attack her in her own bed.

The attacker then fled. Police are trying to find surveillance camera video to help them find the culprit.

Police say he wore a grey colored work uniform. Apartment building management says their workers always wear blue uniforms.

The victim, a 32 year old woman, is still being treated and interviewed at Episcopal Hospital.

"This male is described as a white male in his 50's, about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He's a stocky guy, about 200 pounds by report. He's got blonde and gray hair on the sides, he's got a salt and pepper beard. It appears he's been unshaven for a period of time," said Capt. John Darby of the Philadelphia Police.

Police say there have been no other reports of this type in the Northeast Philadelphia section.
