The Salvation Army is trying to raise $3.75 million this holiday to fund its many human service programs throughout the year.
So, I put on an apron and picked up a ladel to help out with the kick-off to their Christmas Campaign. We parked ourselves right in the Gallery during a busy lunch crowd. We offered soup to anyone who passed by.
It was obvious some of the people were truly in need.
They seemed very grateful for a warm cup of soup and a smile. They touched my heart in ways that were unexpected. It's such a good feeling to do something small to help someone.
But, when you think of all of the people in need this year especially, you realize the special importance of groups like the Salvation Army. They will provide meals, clothing and toys to more than 40,000 people this holiday alone.
My hat goes off to everyone who works with the Salvation Army!
