Homemaker Clelia Lopes and her construction worker husband Mario cashed in the Mega Millions winning ticket today.
They've been holding on to it since Clelia Lopes bought the only winning ticket on July 22 while shopping at the Seabra Supermarket in Newark.
The couple emigrated from Portugal more than 30 years ago and do not speak English. They said through an interpreter they were happy but nervous about winning.
Since the Lopes' chose the cash option, they actually walk away with considerably less than the jackpot amount. Their prize comes to about $75.5 million. That's before the 25 percent federal withholding tax.
